Reflections on WELLGOOD:
A Journey of Wellness at Kielder Waterside Park
Hosting WELLGOOD at Kielder Waterside Park was an unforgettable experience that blended community, nature, and wellness. Every element of the day came together beautifully, and it was truly rewarding to witness participants connect with themselves and each other in such a meaningful way.
Starting with Yoga: Setting the Intention
We began the day with a grounding forest yoga session Delivered by Nat Inside the tipi, the atmosphere was calm and welcoming, with everyone settling in and leaving behind the noise of their routines. Yoga helped set the tone, encouraging participants to connect with their breath and center themselves, making them ready for the deeper practices to come. Nat delivers alot of her sessions at Corbridge Yoga Studio.
Diving into Bodywork and Contrast Therapy
After yoga, we divided the group into two. Half of the participants started with a dynamic bodywork session guided mostly by Ed from E.T Fitness
, releasing tension and awakening their muscles. Meanwhile, the other half ventured outside to experience the Northumbrian Sauna and take a brave plunge into Kielder's reservoir. Watching people alternate between the warmth of the sauna and the briskness of the water was inspiring and though all had the professionalguidance of a highly qualified Ice Swim coach and Sauna Master; of course there were moments of hesitation, but each person left with a sense of accomplishment and vitality. The groups then swapped, allowing everyone to experience the unique benefits of both activities.
Lunch with Local Flavor
For lunch, we wanted to offer something nourishing and locally sourced. We served hearty soup and fresh bread from Grateful Bakery in Hexham, which was a warming treat. As people shared food and conversation, it was clear that this break added a layer of connection, with everyone tucking into the soup and engaging in open conversation.
Afternoon Session: Speaker, Ritual, Breathwork, and Sound Bath
After lunch, we gathered for a speaker session led by Janey, who encouraged everyone to reflect on their intentions and let go of what no longer served them. Together, we held a note-burning ritual—a powerful act of release that brought the group even closer.
Following this, we moved into breathwork deliverd by Laura from Nature Connection, inviting participants to deepen their awareness and find calm. The day closed with a peaceful sound bath with Carol, and as the resonant sounds washed over us, there was a shared sense of grounding and peace.
A Journey of Connection and Renewal
Seeing WELLGOOD come to life and witnessing everyone’s openness and courage was deeply fulfilling for us as organizers. The day’s blend of yoga, bodywork, contrast therapy, reflection, and sound created an experience we’ll never forget. Each person’s willingness to share in these practices brought a sense of community that enriched the experience for all.
WELLGOOD reminded us that wellness goes beyond the individual; it’s about building connections and supporting each other on this journey. We’re grateful to every participant and the stunning venue that we had and can’t wait to bring this incredible experience back again.
