A Year Of Transformation - Sauna & Lake Dip Newcastle

Northumbrian Sauna lake dip setting - fire and ice / Contrast Therapy of Newcastle.

A Year of Transformation and Discovery

Over the past year, we’ve really seen an incredible transformation in how we run our sauna sessions. From the moment we introduced our beautiful sauna trailer a year ago, it’s been a journey of refining what we do and discovering what makes our sessions special. We’ve found that what people love most is the guided, mindful approach we bring to each sauna experience. It’s not just about the heat—it’s about the atmosphere, the safety, and the sense of community we create.

Embracing the Viking Spirit and New Sessions

In that spirit of transformation, we’ve also had a lot of fun exploring new themes. This year, we’ve leaned into a bit of a Viking-inspired theme for some of our sessions. We’ve brought in Viking music, turned up the heat just a touch, and created an atmosphere that’s both invigorating and immersive. It’s been amazing to see how our guests respond to these themed sessions, and it’s given us a chance to offer something truly unique.

Surprisingly there has been a 90% liken towards the Viking theme so we will deffo do more.

Our Commitment to Health and Safety

Of course, a huge part of what we do is ensuring everyone’s safety and well-being. We’re very conscious about maintaining a pure and healthy environment in the sauna. That’s why we advocate strongly against putting oils in the water for putting on the stones as biproducts are then breathed in by the users and not healthy. It 100% isn't just about preference—there are genuine proven safety reasons behind it. We want to keep the air as clean and breathable as possible and ensure that everyone has a safe and comfortable experience without any unnecessary risks.

This is why we would only use natural none toxic herb infusion.

A New Home at Higham Lakes – Our Transformation’s Biggest Milestone

One of the most transformative parts of this past year has been finding our new venue at Higham Lakes, just outside Darras Hall, we are the best Sauna & Lake Dip of Newcastle. It's been an incredible gift for us at Northumbrian Sauna—and for our sister business, H2oTrails—to have a dedicated lakeside setting. Since March, we've been able to really flourish here, offering lake sauna and dip sessions that have taken our experiences to a whole new level.

We’ve also recently launched something we call the "Iron Will"—our very own Viking-themed plank where mindset training meets a bit of adventure. Guests get to face their fears and jump off the plank into the water, helping them overcome those invasive thoughts that sometimes hold them back. It's been a hit, and even though the Iron Will is closing for the winter as temperatures drop, we’ll be bringing it back when it warms up again.

In essence, having this new permanent spot has allowed us to dream bigger and create even more unique experiences, like our Dark Night sensory sessions where we switch off the lights for a totally different vibe. We’re excited about the future and can’t wait to keep building on what we’ve started here.
